A new Chinese naval fleet departed from a military port in Zhejiang Province on Sunday. This fleet, the 47th, is tasked with taking over anti-piracy and escort duties in the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somalia.
The fleet consists of a destroyer, a frigate, and a supply ship, carrying over 700 personnel, helicopters, and special forces. Before deployment, the fleet underwent intensive training in counter-piracy, counter-terrorism, and weapons handling.
